we three kings...........

In honor of our puerto rican princess, we decided to learn more about her culture and on January 5th and 6th we celebrated a puerto rican tradition ...three kings day!

The kids decorated an old shoe box....

Then filled it with hay.... For the camels (of course)

They were very proud of their work.....

Oh soooo proud.....

They placed the boxes under their bed, and in the night were visited by three kings just like the ones that came to see Jesus in the manger.

In the morning the hay was gone, and was replaced with some goodies in the special boxes. (the kings had planned to do some shopping at deseret books, but had to settle with walmart at the last minute) Next year the kings will be a little better prepared. owen's stash

It was pretty exciting
The next day we went to our dear friend mayte's house. Her sister is Ava's beautiful birthmother. Ava's adoption has united our families forever. We were invited for a proper Puerto Rican feast in honour of Three Kings day. Slow roasted pork, rice and salad followed by a traditional rice pudding and yummy punch. It was delicious!!! Travis even blended some up for Ava to eat (which she LOVED). All in all it was a lot of fun getting to know more about Ava's culture.
